“How Do You Write A Joe Schermann Song” is an original musical that takes a unique look at love, artistic inspiration and relationships through a composer’s journey in writing the score to an Off-Broadway show. Critics are calling it “a crowd-pleaser”, “witty and extremely well performed” and “a hidden treasure”. When Joe (Joe Schermann) lands an opportunity to write for an Off-Broadway show, he is forced to cast either the love of his life, Evey (Christina Rose) or his newly discovered muse, Summer (Debbie Williams). The realities of show business prove to Joe that writing is easy, living is hard. Director's Bio
Gary King is an award-winning filmmaker whose work is known for powerful performances with an emphasis on a strong, visual style. He has written, directed and produced several critically acclaimed feature films. In 2009, he made his feature film debut with the ensemble drama NEW YORK LATELY which has been hailed by The Independent Critic as “a remarkable achievement” and Row Three as “a beautiful film” making its Top Ten Films of 2009 List. With Gary’s ability to skillfully apply his filmmaking craft across genres, Fearmakers hired him to direct the grisly horror film DISMAL. The film has been picked up by Showtime, The Movie Channel, TimeWarner On-Demand and has both a domestic and international DVD release. He also recently helmed the action/comedy zombie film DEATH OF THE DEAD for Strange Stuff Productions which AINT IT COOL says “delivers a lot of laughs” while SOUND ON SIGHT describes it as “a mash-up between a Zucker Brothers comedy and a Troma film…with a surprising amount of heart.” In 2012, he released HOW DO YOU WRITE A JOE SCHERMANN SONG which claimed the coveted Film of the Festival award at the prestigious Raindance Film Festival in London. It also won the Cox Audience Award at the Phoenix Film Festival and gained him the Dan Harkins Breakthrough Filmmaker Award. It has been described as “…good old-fashioned entertainment…” (EMPIRE MAGAZINE) and TWITCH calls it “a hidden treasure.” The film is currently in the festival circuit.
