Yanna Brandt:
Deep-down is all of humanity lonely and depressed? In the interview with Yanna Kroyt Brandt she opens up about the “frustrating, dilapidating” nature of depression, and how she manages to convey the disease on film. By mixing her preconceived notions and the actors' improvisational skills, she infuses the production with an organic texture.

Yanna Kroyt Brandt has been producing, directing, and writing for television and has won nine Emmies as well as more than 100 film festival awards. She has worked on documentaries as well as dramas. Among her most notable TV credits are The Baryshnikov NUTCRACKER (CBS, PBS), SIMPLE JUSTICE, a drama based on Brown vs. Board of Education, and three AMERICAN PLAYHOUSE (PBS). She was the creator/producer/writer of FYI with Hal Linden (ABC). She has directed in the theater several critically acclaimed off-Broadway productions, one of which was invited to appear at a major theater in Germany.

Currently, Yanna is the director, producer and writer of THE CRUCIBLE OF THE MILLENNIUM which aired on PBS on New Year's Eve, 2001, repeated in 2004 and winner of five major awards. She produced the dramatic segments of RALPH ELLISON: An American Journey broadcast on American Masters in February 2002 and featured at the Sundance Festival 2002. EVERYONE'S DEPRESSED is her feature film directorial debut. She is scheduled to direct another feature this fall, OVER THE EDGE. She is a New York Women In Film and TV member, as well as a former member of its board.
