Jennifer Venditti - "Billy the Kid", Director/producer
Jennifer Venditti introduces her directing talent with the debut of “Billy the Kid.” In 1998 Venditti launched her own casting agency JVBINC in New York City. Venditti embraced street scouting all over the world to find new talent for advertising, fashion and film amongst everyday people. She finds talent in places that would otherwise be overlooked by traditional casting methods. Many people have been inspired by Venditti's unorthodox methods, including photographers Richard Avedon, Bruce Weber, and director Spike Jonze, to name a few.
Her interest in the beauty of everyday heroes provided her easy transition into film making. She found her subject, Billy Price, who inspired her feature documentary “Billy the Kid”, while she was visiting a rural Maine high school for Carter Smith's short film “Bugcrush” (Sundance Short Film Winner 2006). “Billy the Kid” is in the running for the Oscar short-list and is also in the running for the Independent Spirit Award.
