Alan Spearman:
How does one escape from the fast pace of their everyday life to find inner peace? Filmmaker Alan Spearman believes that “most people find it appealing to live a more simple life,” however, problems arise when running away from one's responsibilities. In this interview Spearman examines what happens when one tries to change their lifestyle, to gain perspective.

Alan Spearman, 33, was born in Atlanta, Ga., and graduated with honors from the Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia in Athens. During his career he has documented mothers in prison, a small town strip club, life in one of the nation’s busiest level 1 trauma centers and Hurricane Katrina as she devastated the Gulf Coast. He has produced major photographic essays on the Mississippi River, Morocco, and Memphis music. Alan was the official still photographer for Craig Brewer’s breakout hit film "Hustle and Flow" producing artwork for the poster and billboards. His subjects have included a wide range of unique individuals including Thich Nhat Hanh, Bono, Jermaine O'Neal, Michael Stipe, Mike Tyson, Three 6 Mafia, R.L. Burnside, Scotty Moore, Jerry Lee Lewis, Otha Turner, Justin Timberlake, Samuel L. Jackson, Jimmy Carter, Isaac Hayes and many others.
