jason tyrrell, narrative film and general submissions

Jason is a third generation writer, director and producer who fell in love with storytelling at a very young age. He completed his first novel at thirteen, and has written countless short stories, screenplays, blogs, reviews and op-ed pieces since. During his time at Rutgers University, where he received degrees in English and Psychology, he worked extensively in theatre, helming critically acclaimed productions of Glengarry Glen Ross and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest for the College Avenue Players. From theatre he then moved to film, shooting several shorts and a self-financed feature.

After graduation, Jason founded Rugged Multimedia, and spent the next several years honing his craft while producing hundreds of live documentaries, corporate videos, events and commercials. His clients included many non-profit and artistic organizations, such as The United Way and The Federation of East Village Artists, and his work has been featured in national magazines and broadcast on The Learning Channel. In 2004, Jason refocused the company on motion picture development and production, and has since co-created four feature screenplays and several short films.

Jason joined the IndiePix team in the summer of 2007, lending his production experience, cinematic taste and marketing vision to the Film Acquisitions Team. Since then he has worked on the acquisition, promotion, and distribution of several notable IndiePix releases, including Pras Michel's SKID ROW, Alan Kirschen and Alex Lyras' MONA, Jared Goodman's RUMBO A LAS GRANDES LIGAS (ROAD TO THE BIG LEAGUES), Bob Ray and Werner Campbell's HELL ON WHEELS, Kristi Jacobson's TOOTS, and Rikki Stern and Annie Sundberg's THE END OF AMERICA. He has also worked to develop partnerships across the industry with such prestigious companies as The Cinema Guild and California Newsreel, and served as producer and technical director on over a dozen filmmaker interviews, event screenings, and the 2008 Cinema Eye Honors. Jason also lends his talents to the company's production arm, IndiePix Studios, working with Studio Head Ryan Harrington both as a creative consultant (Paola Mendoza and Gloria LaMorte's ENTRE NOS, Gabriel Noble's P-STAR RISING) and producer (John W. Yost's THE BRAVE AND THE KIND).

Currently Jason is hard at work searching for the best undiscovered independent films at festivals, screenings and events across the country. If you would like to submit a film for consideration, email Jason at submissions@indiepix.net. To find out what's new at IndiePix, check out his regular postings on the IndiePix Blog, visit him on Facebook or bend his ear at the next film festival.
