Joseph Blasioli's gripping documentary THE LAST ROUND chronicles the legendary bout between Muhammad Ali and a little-known Canadian boxer whom the Greatest dubbed "the toughest man" he ever fought. George Chuvalo was born to immigrant parents and raised in a working-class Toronto neighborhood but harbored lifelong dreams of becoming world champion. After devastating losses to Ernie Terrell and Floyd Patterson, Chuvalo was poised to fight Ali--who had public struggles of his own after converting to Islam and refusing the Vietnam draft--at Toronto's Maple Leaf Gardens on March 29, 1966. Through archival footage and interviews with sportswriters Jimmy Breslin and Robert Lipsyte, boxing legend Bert Sugar, trainer Angelo Dundee, Ali's brother Rachman Ali, and Chuvalo himself, Blasioli recreates the dramatic events leading up to the almost mythic battle in which a working-class underdog stood up to a boxing Goliath for 15 rounds of unforgettable fighting.
