Stunningly prolific, politically minded British pop star Billy Bragg joins up with American indie country band Wilco to make folk legend Woody Guthrie's unfinished albums MERMAID AVENUE VOL. 1 amp; 2. After being contacted by Guthrie's daughter Nora, Bragg embarks on a journey that begins at Woody's Okema, Oklahoma, birthplace. While traveling to important settings in Woody's musical career--Texas and New York--and finally meeting up with Wilco in Chicago, Bragg simultaneously works on bringing Woody's words to life. MAN IN THE SAND tracks this two-year project on film, following these dedicated musicians through the albums' production.
