It's the first Sunday of the baseball season. Johnny's enjoying a relaxing afternoon of reading on the couch while his mother, Mary, grades papers.Johnny's father, Tom, returns from watching the game at his buddy's house. He thinks he's only stopping by to pick up some more beer, but Mary presses him to take Johnny with him so she can leave for a meeting. Reluctantly, Tom agrees.Embarrased by the fact that he has returned to the game with his bookish son instead of the beer, Tom tries to get ignore Johnny.Finally, though, Johnny's lack of interest in sports proves too humiliating for his father. Tom challenges Johnny to a game of basketball that will change how they look at one another forever.
