The Committing Poetry Pledge - to stay informed, support our freedom of speech, speak your mind, and creatively live your life...
Winner of the Best Human Rights Film award at the Taos Mountain Film Festival, COMMITTING POETRY IN TIMES OF WAR is a poetic glance at events that defined the struggle of a nation at war abroad, and with its people. Bill Nevins, Humanities Teach and Youth Poetry Coach, was fired for standing up for student freedom of expression. His Rio Rancho High School Poetry Slam Team was forcibly disbanded and silenced. Days after his removal, hundreds of peaceful protestors were brutally assaulted by police. But out of this fire arose a diverse community of artisans, poets and musicians whose courageous words could not be silenced. They came together in a series of unifying events referred to as Poetic Justice.
