Inexplicable disorder. Televisions off-air. Humans ravaging each other for scraps of food and weapons. This is the turn that life takes for three friends trying to find their place in post-9-11 America. In a dark, eerie portrait of societal meltdown, EVERY GOOD THING to RUST questions the loyalties of friendship and challenges any illusions of safety and order. Quiet, sincere, and beautifully shot, this debut feature from director John W. Yost is a stirring and meditative outlook on the degeneration of American culture.

Director's Statement:
Independent film is at a crossroads. Films proclaimed 'Indie', like "Little Miss Sunshine" somehow afford $8 million budgets and all-star casts - perfectly poised for the Oscars.
'Independent' has morphed into a buzzword used to sell Hollywood films under the guise of grassroots. Are audiences truly interested in Independent film, or are they only willing to step across the line as far as low-budget Hollywood will take them? Once the 'Indie' badge has been brandished, do audiences only expect a quirky, homogenized script in a package plastered with film-fest emblems?
As technology evolves and the craft continues to thrive it is inevitable that the divide will widen between viewers hungry for blockbusters and those seeking self-generated, exclusive content that can be watched, shared, and given feedback. The door for truly new, revolutionary work is wide open - the only thing holding us back is our preconceived notion of what 'Indie' is.
EVERY GOOD THING to RUST was made for $4,000 with a crew of five. It is being distributed here at IndiePix on DVD and Download-to-own for cost, so that everyone can share it and give feedback.
