A Canadian documentary that is ostensibly about the ancient Irish and Scottish fairy myths and those who still believe in them, THE FAIRY FAITH is also a touching look at a culture that is outdated, yet still survives amid more modern beliefs. Filmed mostly in Ireland and Scotland, director John Walker roams the countryside interviewing everyone from university scholars to older folks who claim that to have had encounters with fairies as well as reminiscing about his grandmother, who use to regale him with tales of the roguish little creatures. Ending up in Nova Scotia to examine how the remnants of this culture have survived in North America, Mr. Walker provides an insightful look not only at his one of his ancestor's most beloved legends, but also an entire culture that is slowly disappearing.
