A group of five women occupy a bombed out building, turning it into a house of prostitution where the women are both the business operators and the working girls. Attempting to ensure an orderly business and home, many ground rules are set, including the strict clause of no sex without receiving payment. When the roommates shelter a wayward, attractive drifter (Jo Shishido), all the women are poised to break this rule and set their sites on this drifter with the cool exterior no matter what sadistic punishment and torture is to be brought down upon them.

Seijun Suzuki was a master Japanese filmmaker who broke all sorts of conventions with his work in the 60s for the scandalous soft core studio, Nikkatsu. His films are noted for their extreme violence and sexuality as well as their pulp sensibility. GATE OF FLESH delivers on all of these levels, quite shockingly.
