Kenneth Carlson

“Massillon and small hamlets like it all across America are looking for a way to define themselves, and Massillon in particular is blue collar. These guys love football because it’s a way to throw everything out, all their sins, all the bad work experiences they’ve had for the week, and to put it on the gridiron.” Producer/Director Kenneth Carlson, an Ohio native and a Brown graduate, began his filmmaking career in Reality TV. For more than four years, Carlson produced over 175 feature segments for the Fox hit America’s Most Wanted. Most recently, Carlson returned to his roots with the NBC reality show Lost, where he served as director and cameraman. Carlson is perhaps best known for his documentary GO TIGERS!, which premiered at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival and went on to a successful national theatrical run. Carlson’s other documentary credits include producing the Academy Award Finalist AMARGOSA – about the life of eccentric ballet dancer/artist Marta Becket – and WILD BILL: HOLLYWOOD MAVERICK - about the legendary studio director William A. Wellman – named the Best Documentary of 1996 by the National Board of Review. Under the banner of his independent film company Carlson Films, Carlson wrote, produced, and directed the romantic comedy SPECIAL DELIVERY, starring Sean Young, Penny Marshall, Paul Dooley, and Nell Carter, and had the honor of opening the New York International Film Festival.
