Lisanne Skyler

Lisanne Skyler directed and produced the award-winning short documentary Oldtimers, and the PBS-broadcast documentaries No Loans Today (1995 Sundance Film Festival) and Dreamland (2000). She co-wrote and directed the critically acclaimed feature film Getting To Know You (1999 Sundance Film Festival), adapted from short stories by Joyce Carol Oates. The film was chosen to open the Venice Film Festival Critics Week and received a FIPRESCI Special Jury Award at the Stockholm Film Festival, and an IFP "Someone to Watch Award" nomination for Skyler. It was broadcast on Sundance Channel, and played theatrically at Film Forum in New York and the Roxie Cinema in San Francisco among others, receiving "Two Thumbs Up" from Roger Ebert and Richard Roeper.

As a screenwriter, Lisanne has written screenplays for producers such as Mike Figgis, Nellie Bellflower, Sandbar Films and Greenestreet Films. A graduate of UC Berkeley and the San Francisco State University Graduate Cinema program, Skyler has also served on juries and selection committees for Sundance, the San Francisco International Film Festival and the American Film Institute FilmFest.

Skyler is currently developing "Capture the Flag" into a feature, and working on a new Joyce Carol Oates adaptation with Amy Ryan attached to star. She is a member of the film production faculty of the University of Arizona School of Theatre, Film and Television.
