Simon Whitfield

Composer Simon Whitfield is based in Shanghai, providing music to several Chinese and Taiwanese movies and international advertising campaigns. Simon’s career in music started when he roadied for Bill Withers. He proved such a good roadie that he was soon doing the same for all the greats, including Gary Barlow, Geri Halliwell, 911, BeWitched and Stephen Gateley. At various times his wanderlust has helped him escape this fate, spending much of the last 20 years traveling to 40 countries, exploring indigenous music in Tibet, Western China, Mongolia, Bali, Zimbabwe, and Uzbekistan (where he was twice deported). In between, he composed music for theatre, Nick Whitfield’s Perrier Award nominated solo shows at Edinburgh, and many short films. He is currently hammering out his first Kungfu movie in Shanghai… SKELETONS is his first feature film score.
