Ilkka Jarvilaturi

Jarvilaturi’s latest feature “Spy Games” (a.k.a. “History Is Made at Night”) starring Bill Pullman and Irène Jacob premiered as a Special Presentation at the Toronto Film Festival and is currently in worldwide distribution via Lions Gate Entertainment (U.S.) and Screen Media (Int’l.).

Jarvilaturi won the Fassbinder Prize at Mannheim and a Silver Alexander in Thessaloniki for his acclaimed U.S./Estonian actioner “City Unplugged” (a.k.a. “Darkness in Tallinn”). The film got rave reviews worldwide and went on to be distributed in more than thirty countries.

His first feature “Homebound” was awarded the Nordic Film Prize for Best Scandinavian Feature of 1990; the Grand prix du public in Belfort; and Best Feature Film at the Salzburg FilmSZENE. It screened also at the MoMA New Films / New Directors series in New York and at the Berlin and Venice festivals.

As a screenwriter, Jarvilaturi’s credits include “Man From Japan,” “Ballad of the House Painted Green” and “The Futurists.”

Jarvilaturi studied contemporary literature and acting in Helsinki before earning an MFA in film directing. He is a member of the European Film Academy.
