IndiePix, Celebrating Independent Film

Silver Docs

The Silverdocs Film Festival – the annual non-fiction film held just outside Washington D.C. each June – is something of a favorite here at IndiePix. The Festival doesn’t have the name-recognition of Cannes or Sundance or even SXSW, and it’s all the better for it, because Silverdocs eschews the glitzy and celebrity-laden atmosphere of bigger fests by focusing on the movies themselves. For seven days in Silver Spring, many of the year’s best documentaries play to an audience of documentary film lovers who would rather be tucked away in a dark theater than parading around the Croisette.
